Step 7

“Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.”

DDA Members Share their Experience on Step 7:

“We don’t get to choose which character liabilities go and which don’t. Our Higher Power does.

So, with this step, it’s about developing humility as a characteristic, because when we’re humble in outlook, we seem to get along a bit better with life. We are less likely to step on people’s toes or come a cropper from our most glaring & most problematic characteristics.

When we seek to grow and progress with a deep knowledge that we’re not and never will be perfect, we have made real progress.

So, the best we can do is pray for our Higher Power to remove as many of the most challenging defects as possible and do our best each day.

In Step 6 we became willing to have all of our defects removed, and in Step 7 we ask for a Higher Power’s help to do.”
