Step 11

“Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as understand Him.”

DDA Members Share their Experience on Step 11:

“I love this Step. It’s a Step that can be worked from day one, and with practice and experience of doing it, became an invaluable aid to my recovery.

I’ve never believed in a supernatural God, so when I first came to 12 Step fellowships I thought that this Step wasn’t ever going to be that useful to me. I can say now though, that prayer and meditation work even if like me you don’t believe in a supernatural God.

I pray for a day free from my old addictions and habits at the beginning of every day. I usually try to meditate every day too. I especially try to meditate when I have to do something challenging, and/or when I’m experiencing strong emotions or intrusive thoughts.”
