Step 3

DDA Members Share their Experience on Step 3:

“Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.”

Step 3

“So, in Step One I found out that I had a problem that was bigger than I could fix on my own.

In Step Two, I discovered that all I needed to recover was the Fellowship of DDA and the 12 Steps + 5.

After finding out that attending meetings regularly and working the Steps thoroughly could help me to get and stay well, Step 3 was really only about making a decision.

What was I deciding to do? Well, firstly, I needed to turn my will over to my Higher Power as I understood ‘Him’ which only really means practising the DDA 12 Step +5 principles in my life.

Secondly, I had to stop internalising all of the stuff that had happened in my life up until now and trust it to another person and my HP by talking about the things, good and bad, that had happened in my life up until now.

Step Three is simply making a decision to work the Steps as thoroughly as I can.
